Shower Waterproofing, New Britain & Across Connecticut
Schluter-KERDI and liquid-applied systems behind every shower we tile: beauty on the surface, protection underneath.
Service Details
Shower Waterproofing Done Right the First Time
A shower is a wet-room system, and the tile is only its finish layer. We build fully bonded waterproof showers using Schluter-KERDI membrane, prefabricated foam pans and curbs, or liquid-applied membranes where geometry calls for it. Every drain, seam, corner and penetration is detailed before the first tile is set.
Inside the system we correct slope to drain, plumb the walls and reinforce niches, benches and shampoo shelves so they are tiled, functional and fully inside the waterproofing. On the surface we set porcelain or ceramic with consistent joints and seal the movement transitions that grout alone can never survive.
The difference shows up years later: no moisture behind the walls, no swollen drywall on the other side, no musty smell. Just a shower that still looks new and protects the structure around it.
Before you book, read the five layers behind a shower that lasts. It is five minutes and it saves guessing.
In New Britain we waterproof every shower with a bonded system: Schluter-KERDI membrane, pre-sloped pans, curbs and a flood test before a single tile goes down.

Frequently Asked Questions
Waterproofing Questions, Straight Answers
No. Daniel and his own crew do the tile work. We do not hand your job to a third-party installer, so the same people who set the tile are the ones in your house every day of the install, and you deal with one company from the estimate through the final clean-up.
Tile and grout are not waterproof. They never have been. The membrane behind them is what keeps water out of your wall cavity. A beautiful tile job over a bad waterproofing system fails within a few years; a correct system is built to outlast the tile surface it carries.
A typical tub-to-shower conversion or full shower rebuild runs 4 to 6 working days: demolition and prep, waterproofing and flood test, then tile, grout and silicone. We keep the bathroom sealed and broom-clean every evening.
Yes. Tub conversions are among our most requested projects. We rebuild the drain position, slope the pan correctly, waterproof the full wet area and tile it, adding glass, niches and benches to your plan.
Every bonded system is plugged and flood-tested for 24 hours before tile. If a drop moves, we find it while it is still inexpensive to fix, not after your tile is on the wall.
We build the pan, then go over it with a bonded waterproofing membrane such as a Schluter-KERDI style sheet or a liquid-applied one where the geometry calls for it. The membrane runs over the pan, up the walls, around the curb, and over every seam, corner and valve penetration, and we hold a twenty-four-hour flood test before any tile goes down. If a drop moves, we find it while it is still inexpensive to fix.
Only sometimes, and only when the old tile passes the checks: solidly bonded everywhere when you tap it, flat, and structurally sound, with enough give at the outlets, counters and doors to absorb the added thickness. When it fails any of those, tiling over it locks the problem in. On a wet area we almost always take it down to the substrate instead.
